Combined Bundle of Flip the Lens Modules One, Two & Three (The Belonging, Creativity & Culture Projects) + Overview, Inspiration & Guidelines

$275.00

This Module requires knowledge of how to use a filming device and video editing skills.

Flip the Lens offers a way for kids to use their digital devices and the internet that creates a sense of purpose, enables them to feel a part of something meaningful, and fosters social-emotional learning.

With FTL’s Social Intelligence Projects, students film a three-question interview with the person of their choice about universal themes related to what it means to be human. Students can have a powerful experience of seeing life through someone else’s eyes, and be part of a movement to bring social media from me to we. We’ll publish their videos on Flip the Lens YouTube Channel.

This collection contains three Flip the Lens modules: The Belonging Project, The Creativity Project, and The Culture Project, as well as the pre-requisite Overview, Inspiration & Guidelines package. These materials represent approximately 50-60 hours of learning.

Description

The lessons include:

  • The Belonging Project assignment is to create a short video interview for The Belonging Project, asking an interview subject three questions that are simple, and yet sure to elicit powerful and highly personal views on this universal dimension of being human.
  • The Culture Project invites learners to explore the meaning of culture by filming someone responding to three provocative questions about the role of culture in everyday life. With this assignment, students examine how culture is both universal and personal, and investigate ways culture both expresses our individuality, and is a catalyst to see ourselves in others.
  • With the Creativity Project, participants explore what it means to be creative by conducting a three-question interview that takes a broad look at this dimension of being human. The assignment inspires students to consider that creative thinking is a life skill , and explore if this is a universal attribute of humanity.
  • Parent/Teacher guide that provides the likely time length required for each exercise and suggestions on ways to implement Projects with students.

The lesson includes:

  • Selection of inspiring, thought-provoking proprietary FTL videos about our shared human condition and the unique way we each express that.
  • Guidelines and tutorials on selecting an interview subject, interviewing, editing, and submitting videos for publication on the Flip the Lens YouTube channel.
  • Structured templates to conduct short, three-question interviews with someone they consider interesting about a specific theme related to our shared humanity and unique differences.

By creating video interviews for The Belonging, Creativity and Culture Projects, learners develop Social Intelligence skills like collaboration, communication, critical thinking, creativity, empathy, listening, rapport-building, as well as hard skills like storytelling and digital content creation.

The interviews should be done in person. This ensures that learners have the full, authentic experience of connecting with another person in real time, which offers a different way of relating than online.

When the piece has been completed, submit it for publication on our YouTube channel. Submissions require review by parent/teacher to ensure directions were followed and that requirements are met.
